John Landis is Professor of City and Regional Planning at the University of California, Berkeley, where he teaches courses in planning history, housing, project development, land use planning, and computer mapping. Prof. Landis has published more than two dozen book chapters and articles in such journals as Access, Urban Studies, Environment and Planning, and Mortgage Banking. His article, "Imagining Land Use Futures," won the 1995 award for best feature article in the Journal of the American Planning Association. Prof. Landis' recent research has focused on a wide variety of housing and growth policy issues, including affordable housing, the environmental impacts of urban growth, the extent and causes of urban sprawl, and earthquake recovery. Together with several generations of graduate students, Landis designed and developed the California Urban Futures family of urban simulation models.
